Katja Schommartz-Koerdt, born in 1967, is both strategic mind and heart of ALL ABOUT BRANDS and a typical representative of the 'Generation Golf'. It was probably around the time when she bought her first Marc O'Polo sweater from her self-earned money that her passion for brands was born. The first bicycle she bought was from Hercules. She dreamt of Kickers shoes and was addicted to Milka chocolate.
At the same time, she longed to see the world. Not surprisingly, Katja went to Paris to work as an au pair as soon as she finished school. Subsequently, she studied business administration in Göttingen and California. After her first glance at the communication business during an internship at the advertising agency HDM in Los Angeles the aim was clear: To work in advertising, to build brands, to focus on strategy.
After graduation Katja joined the international advertising agency DMB&B in Frankfurt. As European Account Director she was responsible for clients such as Procter & Gamble and Philips. The successful brand relaunch of Alldays (P&G) was awarded a Euro Effie in Bronze in 1998. After a 6 months broadening assignment at the agency in Warsaw, building brands in Eastern Europe became another focus of her work. In the meantime, she loved to bagpack throughout South-East-Asia and Latin America.
In 1997 she moved to Zurich to take up new challenges. Firstly, she worked as freelance Strategic Planner. Then she worked as Head of Marketing-Communications at Zurich Financial Services Switzerland where she was primarily responsible for the repositioning from a mere insurance company to a financial services provider.
As her curiosity for foreign countries was not yet satisfied, she moved to Brazil with her husband and son in 2001. As a mother of 2 she returned to Germany heavy-heartedly two years later. Finally anchoring in Hamburg, she first threw herself into some hands-on work renovating an old house before she started to work as an independent brand consultant in 2004.
With her now family of 5 she moved from the Elbe to the Main in 2007 where she founded ALL ABOUT BRANDS Strategy Consulting. Katja is member of the Account Planning Group Deutschland.
If she does not twist her brain over some brand strategies, plans her next relocation, or cheers her boys on the football field she is probably about to put on her running shoes to train for the next marathon.
